2025 FIFA Club World Cup is the first international football tournament with 32 clubs for football clubs around the world. This tournament will mark the 21st edition of FIFA’s premier international club football competition. Before the Club World Cup, the Intercontinental Cup served as the de facto global championship for clubs.
Scheduled to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025. Different from previous 20 editions, this edition will present 32 football clubs to compete for The World Cup Trophy. This change aims to increase participation, global interest, and competitiveness.
Those 32 teams will be divided into eight groups of four teams. The teams in each group play each other in round-robin and the top two teams advance to the knockout stage.
It is a jump from 7 teams in last edition to 32 teams.
Furthermore, FIFA applies EUFA tie-breaker regulation in group stages. FIFA is not applying a more simple FIFA World Cup tie-breaker regulation where group performance is counted first (points, goal difference, goals scored). They place Head-to-Head records after teams are ranked by points directly.
